"What's the difference between In School Suspension (ISS) and Refocus?"
ISS and Refocus are two completely different classrooms and serve two completely different purposes. ISS is a form of punishment, served during school time. Refocus, or ISI as it was previously known, is used as tool for student improvement. ISS is based on a points system, where a certain number of points are needed to complete the suspension. Students are brought work that normally would have been completed if they had been in class. Refocus students generally are not brought work from their teachers. That is why it is so important for students in Refocus to bring work.
"I've been assigned to Refocus. What should I bring to class?"
If you've been assigned to the Refocus room, there are a few essentials you should bring to class everyday. This makes class time run much smoother and ensures that time spent in Refocus is not time wasted. Below is a list of materials every Refocus student should come to class prepared with:
- A Pencil and/or Pen
- School Books and Binders
- A Reading Book
- Any Current and/or Late Assignments
